Carrying the message to those who still suffer

From a feeling of embarrassment, we hesitate to approach a stranger.   The fear of being repulsed is the cause of a great deal of coldness in the world; when we seem indifferent we are often merely timid.  The adventurous soul must break that barrier, resolving in advance not to mind a rebuff.  If we dare with wisdom, always maintaining a certain reserve in our approach, we find that when we open ourselves we open doors in others. -Albert Schweitzer

No matter how difficult you may think your life is, there is one more person out there who is facing challenges that are even tougher than yours:  not making enough money; dealing with the tragic death of a loved one; the loss of a career; alcoholism/addiction…so on.   You can still carry the message to those who are suffering despite your current difficulty.

Giving Back; Giving Hope.

Carrying a message of experience, strength, and hope to your community is a selfless and valuable gift, both for you and the one who still suffers.  Working with others is altruistic in nature, meaning doing something for the positive benefit of another person or entity without expecting anything in return.  For recovering alcoholics and drug addicts, offering a solution to those beginning their journey in the drug and alcohol recovery process can be the encouragement they need. Hearing how others recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind, body, and spirit is an important part of the healing process and illuminates the path to long-term sobriety; their message may provide the hope to someone that a life free from alcohol and drugs is possible. A by-product of encouraging others is that we, in return, are encouraged. Lead by example; don’t be afraid to reach out to recovering addicts.
