Unveiled in 2022, our BRAIN Program is a highly specialized, comprehensive evaluation and initial treatment process located at both our campuses near Austin, TX. We designed it for clients with complex and serious mental health issues related to the intersection of their biology, environment, and life events. We also cater to clients with difficult to determine diagnoses or conflicting reports from other providers. Our approach is an evidence-based, collaborative endeavor conducted by experts in medicine, psychology, counseling, and psychiatry that work in conjunction with our patients and their families to understand the challenges they face and how we can help them better their lives.

Clients in the BRAIN program can receive genetic/genomic reports, neuropsychological testing, quantitative EEG testing (known as “brain mapping”), neurofeedback, fitness assessments, and custom-developed treatment recommendations.

What Is Neuro-Informed Addiction Treatment?

Neuro-informed addiction treatment is a comprehensive approach that combines the best of neuro-based, pharmacological, and psychotherapeutic treatments to help individuals better understand and manage their addiction or other mental health conditions. This type of treatment is beneficial for those seeking to address the following aspects of their addiction:

  • Biological – Medications, such as naltrexone (Vivitrol) or buprenorphine (Suboxone), can help curb cravings and reduce withdrawal symptoms.
  • Social – Supportive therapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy, can help individuals identify triggers and develop strategies to cope with cravings.
  • Psychological – Psychological treatment such as motivational interviewing, psychotherapy, neurofeedback, ketamine, and mindfulness can help individuals identify underlying issues related to their addiction and develop coping mechanisms.
  • Behavioral – Behavioral interventions, such as contingency management and community reinforcement, can help individuals stay on track with a recovery plan.

The goal of this type of treatment is to provide a safe and supportive environment that is conducive to healing and recovery.

By exploring a client’s story from multiple perspectives, gaining insight into the nuances of their unique situation, and striving to understand life through their mindset, we can assist you in understanding the complexities of your clinical profile and identify the strategies that best help you move forward. Our method is about collaboration and self-discovery for our clients. They often learn just as much about themselves as what we discover. The BRAIN  process serves as a therapeutic assessment package that may be necessary before commencing with other forms of help.

What Is the BRAIN Program?

The BRAIN Program is a comprehensive evaluation and initial treatment process designed to identify, evaluate, and treat complex emotional and mental health issues related to the intersection of the client’s biology, environment, and life events. Through a multidisciplinary approach utilizing evidence-based treatments such as neurofeedback and narrative therapy, we can gain a deep understanding of our client’s brain and history. We then develop an individualized treatment plan that offers the best opportunity for mental health and recovery. Some clients remain with us for treatment, and some are referred to other organizations that can better address their unique needs.

The program can be done as a stand-alone treatment or as an additional component of an integrated care plan at any facility in the BRC Healthcare family of programs. Our interdisciplinary team can customize each individual’s assessment plan to their unique needs by leveraging functional and neuropsychiatric assessments, brain-based technology applications, and medical or psychiatric evaluations.
